What are you supplementing your diet with?

Do you use supplements to help out your nutrition? Give it a boost and help you feel like a super human? If not this may be the article you need to read.

Unfortunately "these days" our food isn't grown or produced they way it used to be say 50yrs ago. Our soil isn't as rich and full of the natural occurring nutrients and minerals it once was. Pesticides and chemicals are more common than not when mass producing our food and it seems to be mass produced more often than not.

So how can we help ourselves in this situation? Because this is the current situation and it will not be changing anytime soon because there are more and more mouths to feed on this planet. So we need to start to help ourselves out rather than just hoping for the best by eating spinach every now and then.

So supplementing a good diet is important. Notice I say a "good diet" one that is balanced with the correct macronutrients and micronutrients otherwise supplements are a waste of your time and money. They help boost on the nutrition you are already implementing. So here are some recommendations for different purposes and remember they are recommendations:

  1. Magnesium - Great to help with aching muscles, cramps and pains. Fantastic for body recovery and promoting a healthy sleeping pattern.

  2. Zinc - Amazing for boosting immune health and aid in metabolism, digestion, nerve function and many other processes as well as the most important one protein production. It also aids in reducing oxidative stress. Zinc is an essential mineral that our bodies do not produce on its own, so it makes it even more important to supplement it or be mindful of consuming it through our nutrition with foods that are not processed such as animal products and plant foods.

  3. Vitamin D - This vitamin is found in numerous foods you already eat including dairy products, mushrooms, tuna, salmon, organic eggs, and more. You can also sit in the sunshine each day for about 10 minutes to get all you need. However if this is not achievable for you for whatever reason, Vitamin D can naturally boost your immune system by providing energy to immune cells, so they work more efficiently.

Just to name a few. These are just some ideas of how to get the most out of your nutrition and give your bodies and immune systems the best support possible. Remember this is to "supplement" an already existing healthy diet. If you don't feel like you are quite there yet focus on your nutrition first.
